What are the different user roles? What can each role do?

Recogito has permissions at both the instance- and project-level.

These are the permissions according to the user role on an instance:

Org Administrators

  • Can see all projects
  • Can see/annotate documents in all projects
  • Can add documents to all projects
  • Can create new projects
  • Can edit or delete any annotation
  • Can edit or delete projects or documents within a project
  • Can manage users (change roles, add/remove users, etc.)

Org Professors

  • Can see all projects
  • Can create projects
  • Cannot enter projects they don’t own unless invited to join
  • Can annotate projects they belong to

Org Readers

  • Can receive invitations
  • Can see projects that they’re a member of
  • Cannot create projects
  • Can be added as a project administrator to annotate documents inside of a project

These are project-level roles.

Project Administrators

  • Can see/annotate documents in a project
  • Can add and delete documents from a project

Project Students

  • Can see/annotate assignments
